"Common action" against repression

The initiative group "Common Action" published an appeal to Amnesty International. In its appeal, the group expresses "great concern at the rapid growth in the number of persons openly persecuted in the Russian Federation for political and ideological reasons" .

The events in Blagoveshchensk, according to human rights activists, have become a sign of the government's readiness for mass repression. In addition, they believe that all those imprisoned in connection with the Yukos case fully meet the criteria for the status of political prisoners: Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Platon Lebedev, Alexei Pichugin and Svetlana Bakhmina, as well as all those arrested in connection with a protest in the Public Reception of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation December 14, 2004

"Only immediate intervention ," the message says. - "international human rights organizations can stop the unfolding of mass political repressions in Russia" .
