Moscow introduces curfew for teenagers

On March 23, 2005, the Moscow City Duma adopted in the first reading a draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the City of Moscow dated May 19, 2004 No. 34 "On Administrative Responsibility for Connivance with Minors Being in Public Places at Night Unaccompanied by Their Legal Representatives"".

According to the new edition, teenagers under 16 cannot be in public places (clubs, restaurants, gambling establishments, etc.) without adult accompaniment. Previously, restrictions applied only to children under 14 years of age.

On April 13, 2005, the Moscow City Duma approved a law on the presence of minors in public places from 22:00 to 6:00. Violation of the law entails the imposition of an administrative fine on the owners of these establishments. The fine for owners of night establishments is from 2,500 to 30,000 rubles. Parents of teenagers detained at night will have to pay a fine in the amount of 300 to 500 rubles.
