On March 25, 2005, Leonid Gorbenko, ex-governor of the Kaliningrad region, co-chairman of the Motherland Frontier movement, made a scandal at the Press Ball organized by the regional organization of the Union of Journalists of the Russian Federation in the Seamen's Palace of Culture in Kaliningrad. The ex-governor made public anti-Semitic statements ( "Jews sold Russia" ) to Alexander Koretsky, Chairman of the Committee on Information, Press and Public Relations of the Administration of the Kaliningrad Region. According to eyewitnesses, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, L. Gorbenko shouted at the representatives of the executive power of the region: "There are only Jews around!" , and came into conflict with the general director of NTRK "Kaskad" Igor Rostov.

I. Rostov is going to file a lawsuit against the ex-governor for a number of his public statements, including those of anti-Semitic content. "Now I'm consulting with lawyers ," said Igor Rostov.

L. Gorbenko allowed himself public anti-Semitic statements before. For example, on February 16, 2005, at a press conference on the issue of the Dresden Bank loan, he emphasized that out of 2,500 Jews living in the region, 500 are in leadership positions.
