On April 21, 2005, Russian Greenpeace activists held a protest action near the building of the Government of the Russian Federation demanding that the draft of the new Forest Code be withdrawn from the State Duma for revision, the first reading of which is scheduled for April 22, 2005.
The protesters blocked the entrance to the White House building. At first, the employees of the Federal Security Service tried to disperse the picket. Then a police squad arrived at the White House and detained 17 activists, who were detained and taken to the police department of the Presnensky district of Moscow.
