Kuban human rights activists demand an independent investigation into the “Armenian pogrom” case

Representatives of non-governmental public organizations (NGOs) of the Kuban have asked the Prosecutor General of Russia to appoint an independent team to investigate the incident in a cafe that occurred on March 21, 2005 in Novorossiysk and its consequences.

Representatives of public associations consider it illegal to combine in one proceeding criminal case No. 595245 in relation to "malicious acts of hooliganism" committed by ataman V. Petrusha and other Cossacks and criminal case No. 595246 "on the fact of causing serious bodily injury to Petrusha V.I." . This decision, according to the authors of the Appeal, was the reason for a biased and one-sided investigation, protecting only the interests of V. Petrusha and his comrades.

The signatories of the appeal ask Vladimir Ustinov to pay attention to the situation in the field of discrimination against ethnic minorities and systematic violations of human rights in the Krasnodar Territory , emphasizing that "over the past few years, not a single criminal case in the Krasnodar Territory related to attacks on representatives of ethnic minorities and inciting ethnic hatred not brought to trial . "

The appeal was signed by Vadim Karastelev, expert of the Novorossiysk Committee for Human Rights, Tamara Karastelyova, executive director of the Novorossiysk Committee for Human Rights, Marina Dubrovina, lawyer of the Migration and Law program of the Memorial Human Rights Center, and others.
