The Ryazan regional court, considering the case of violations during the election campaign of the current governor Georgy Shpak, recognized the fact of bribing voters using the "Orthodox project". As part of the project, pilgrimage trips were organized for residents of the region to various Orthodox shrines, in particular, to the St. John the Theologian Monastery (Ryazan region) and to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. At the same time, campaigning was carried out in buses in support of candidate G. Shpak.
According to project manager Oleg Larin, the "propaganda" pilgrimage trips were organized with the knowledge of the Archbishop of Ryazan and Kasimov Pavel (Ponomarev) and with the support of a number of clergymen.
The court came to the conclusion that the funds allocated for the transport and work of agitators "were spent by other persons on behalf of G.I.
