On April 30, 2005, an opposition rally was held in Nazran demanding the resignation of Murat Zyazikov. The rally was dispersed by riot police. Opposition leader Musa Ozdoev, deputy of the People's Assembly of Ingushetia, was detained and arrested for three days. On May 1, 2005, the deputy went on a hunger strike, and on May 2 he was released ahead of schedule.

However, the deputy intends to file a complaint with the prosecutor's office, as he believes that the decision to detain him was issued by the court illegally. Firstly, Ozdoev was not in court, and secondly, there is no seal on the court decision.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia Beslan Khamkhoev announced the ban on the April 30 rally. According to the minister, the ban was due to security requirements. Nevertheless, dozens of buses with demonstrators headed to Nazran from different regions of the republic. At the entrance to the city, the policemen stopped the buses and turned them around.
