RNU rally in Orel

According to media reports, it was initially reported that the rally would take place legally, with the permission of the city administration. "It's just a nightmare. Victory Day is just around the corner, and we have fascist rallies. Yes, even with the permission of the authorities. And this is after the Limonov kids, essentially harmless, were forbidden to hold a gathering. And motorists who demanded tax cuts, too ," Oryol activist Dmitry Krayukhin said.

Most of the protesters came to Orel from Bryansk. There were visitors from Belgorod and the Moscow region. Having lined up, they raised banners with the inscriptions: "The authorities are carrying out the genocide of the people. Stop tolerating!" and "RNE - it's time!" . The protesters specifically emphasized their regional affiliation, insisting on complete independence and lack of ties with the former leader of the RNU and the Russian Party in Oryol, Igor Semyonov, after whose arrest, in fact, the activities of the organization in Orel were practically curtailed. (I.Semenov was convicted for inciting ethnic hatred under Article 74 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR in 1998).

There were few policemen at the rally. The picket caused negative emotions among passers-by.

City officials said they did not authorize the rally. "We did not sanction the rally. The application was submitted too late. Now, if they had informed us of their desire to hold a rally a little earlier, then we would have considered the request. Otherwise, this picket is completely illegal. I told them about it," said the head of the sector for work with law enforcement agencies Nikolai Gazov. However, no measures were taken to disperse the rally.

After the verdict was passed on the Bryansk Barkashevites, the activities of RNE members in Orel noticeably intensified. On May 8, another action took place in the city center - three "comrades-in-arms" from the party distributed leaflets of nationalistic content.
