Residents of the Irkutsk suburb of Rabochee protest against the construction of a Buddhist temple in the city park

According to the regional television company Gorod TV , several dozen residents of the Irkutsk suburb of Rabocheye gathered on June 1 for a rally in protest against the construction of a Buddhist temple in the city park. Citizens - despite assurances from administration officials - believe that after the completion of construction they will lose the opportunity to freely walk around the park, and say they are ready to "go to drastic measures" if the authorities do not hear them.
