Fine for swastikas in the Ryazan region

On June 24, 2005, the Magistrate of Kasimov (Ryazan region) Y. Panyushkin ruled to bring the local neo-pagan right-wing radical Yuri Oleinikov to administrative responsibility under Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses ("Propaganda and public demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols confusingly similar to Nazi ones"). Y. Oleinikov was fined 500 rubles.

The symbolism of the organization "Spiritual Tribal Power Rus", which is represented by Yu. Oleinikov, is an ordinary Nazi four-beam swastika, sometimes, however, depicted in a mirror image. However, the reason for the punishment was not its demonstration at public events, but Y. Oleinikov's appeals to the Ryazan regional (April 18, 2005) and Kasimov interdistrict (April 21, 2005) prosecutor's offices with a statement written on the letterhead of the organization containing this symbolism.
