On June 26, 2005, the international conference "Speech aggression in communication and the media" began its work at the Chelyabinsk State University. The initiator of the conference was the Department of Theory of Mass Communications of the University.
The conference is intended to unite the efforts of scientists involved in the linguistic analysis of the manifestation of verbal aggression in various discourses (politics, history, culture, philosophy, psychology, literary criticism, jurisprudence, etc.).
The participants of the conference, in particular, plan to discuss the problems of verbal aggression in journalistic practice; the current state of the invective practices of the "yellow press" and trends in their development; hate speech among students in the context of interethnic communication.
