Cultural figures suggest that the deputy provide the Yaroslavl diocese and local residents with the opportunity to decide for themselves the issue of installing monuments to St. Irinarch and monk Peresvet

In July, the chairman of the Writers' Union V. Ganichev, actor V. Lanovoi, composer A. Eshpay and a number of other cultural figures sent an open letter to State Duma deputy A. Greshnevikov, the most active opponent of the installation of monuments to the Monk Irinarch and the holy monk Peresvet by Tsereteli in front of the Boris-Gleb Monastery Yaroslavl diocese. The letter, in particular, says: “Give the Yaroslavl diocese, local deputies, veterans and, finally, all Borisoglebsk residents the right to decide for themselves where and what monuments should stand in Borisoglebsk, learn to respect the people who elected you as a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation!”

At the end of August it became known that the monuments would not be installed near the monastery itself, as previously planned. Alexey Ogurtsov, deputy head of the administration of the Borisoglebsky district, said this in an interview with the Vremya Novostey newspaper: “At first they wanted to install the monuments near the Borisoglebsky Monastery. But the Ministry of Culture intervened, which stated that they cannot be installed in a protected area. Currently we are looking for a worthy place "For now we are planning a place near the city hotel."
