The Ombudsman of the Perm region is outraged by the publication of the municipal newspaper

On July 25, 2005, Tatyana Margolina, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Perm Region, sent a letter to the head of the administration of Krasnokamsk expressing indignation at one of the publications of the Krasnokamskaya Zvezda newspaper dated June 25, 2005 (founded by the city administration).

The reason for the appeal was the article "Gypsy drug business", in which, according to T. Margolina, the author clearly identifies the gypsies, including young children, as the main participants in the drug trade. The Ombudsman believes that "the publication in the form in which it is presented is unacceptable, as this leads to the formation of a negative attitude towards this population group, which subsequently can become the main cause of serious conflicts between certain groups of the population" .

T. Margolina's appeal contains a request to the city administration to inform how the administration, as the founder of the newspaper, plans to protect city residents from information that incites interethnic hatred and discrimination against people on national and ethnic grounds.
