Orel's "civil control" against neo-Nazis

On September 1, 2005, the Oryol public organization "Civil Control" (headed by Marina Ivashina) applied to the prosecutor's office and the FSB of the Oryol region with a request to conduct an investigation to identify participants in the socio-political rally on March 26, 2005, who spoke there under radical nationalist slogans (The rally was organized by "Civil Control" ("GC")).

The reason for such an appeal was the accusations of "GK" in cooperation with pro-fascist organizations (in particular, with the RNU), which repeatedly appeared in the regional media, controlled by the regional administration.

Meanwhile, in her statement, Marina Ivashina writes that “several days before the rally and on the same day, we drew the attention of law enforcement agencies to the facts of the preparation of provocative and discrediting events that became known to us, submitted written applications, requests to strengthen measures to protect public order in Unfortunately, then the police evaded measures to isolate groups with nationalist paraphernalia and symbols from the venue of the rally, which contributed to a lot of speculation on the part of unscrupulous journalists and individual officials .

"GK" expresses its conviction that "propaganda of national-racial superiority, humiliation of national dignity, advertising of nationalist public entities ... must be suppressed" and invites law enforcement agencies of the region "to conduct an audit in accordance with Article 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, during which officially request photographs and video recordings from all mass media that were present at the rally on March 26, 2005, as well as from the press service of the Internal Affairs Directorate, which videotaped the rally in full, take measures to identify persons with nationalist and fascist symbols, recorded in the photo, video -, digital media, and based on the results of the check, decide on the initiation of a criminal case .

For its part, the organization proposes to publish pictures of neo-Nazis on the pages of the Oryol News newspaper with an appeal to the inhabitants of the region to identify them (recall that in Ivanovo such actions helped to identify teenagers who committed a series of brutal beatings of homeless people - ed. ).

The organization believes that this will not only help identify members of the city's pro-fascist organizations and bring them to criminal responsibility, but also draw the attention of civil society to the problem of planting fascist ideology and actively countering these processes.
