Japanese diplomat beaten in Moscow

On September 10, 2005, Yuichiro Uoi, the first secretary of the Japanese embassy in Russia, was attacked near house number 37 on Leningradsky Prospekt in Moscow. According to the victim, the stranger, without saying anything, delivered three strong blows to the face with his fist and disappeared.

The Japanese Embassy reported that the diplomat and his wife were attacked at a bus stop near the CSKA sports complex. Three young men of Slavic appearance approached them and began to swear. The diplomat began to answer them, but they did not listen to him. One of them punched the embassy officer in the face with his fist. The Japanese citizen tried to answer, but two other young men intervening in the fight grabbed his hands tightly. From two subsequent punches, he lost consciousness, fell to the ground.

Having beaten the Japanese, the young people turned around and went towards the Aeroport metro station. A trolleybus pulled up to the stop, and the Japanese wife, supporting the diplomat, was about to enter the transport. One of the three young men turned around, ran up to the woman and hit her in the back of the head with his hand.

At the hospital, doctors recorded several bruises on the victim's face. The wife was also not seriously injured.

The victim appealed to the Savelovsky inter-district prosecutor's office. A criminal case has been initiated .

to the Russian Foreign Ministry Japanese Ambassador to Russia Issei Nomura sent a note asking for a thorough investigation of the incident in order to avoid similar situations in the future.
