Gleb Cherkasov: “Opponents of the regime lack the strength and desire to offer society an alternative system of values”

On September 14, 2005, Gleb Cherkasov published an article in Gazeta.Ru, “Living off the charts,” dedicated to the role of the opposition in the political life of the country.

If the opposition wants to play a noticeable role in the life of the country and fight for power, writes G. Cherkasov, it must offer society its own system of values.

And there is only one way to do this: not to be “part of the choir, which for some reason is called the opposition,” and not to limit your activities to responding to Kremlin initiatives.

“The trouble with opponents of the regime is not the lack of information resources ,” the author asserts, “ but that they lack the strength and desire to offer society an alternative system of values, or, if you like, a different information picture of the day, in which the main news is not the next one at all.” statement by the head of state or his regular meeting with the prime minister."
