A gypsy family was beaten in Belgorod

On the night of August 25, 2005 in Belgorod, the house where the gypsy family Nikolaenko lived was attacked by an armed group of masked youths shouting "Kill the gypsies!"

First, a Molotov cocktail was thrown through the kitchen window, and a smoke bomb was thrown into the room. The awakened tenants began to put out the flames, and the owner's son, Leonid, ran out into the yard. He was attacked with a knife, and the owner of the house, Ivan Nikolaenko and his wife, were beaten by the thugs with rebar.

As a result, the wife of the owner of the house received a triple fracture of the arm, and the son received two stab wounds. Both of them were hospitalized.

Large casualties were avoided due to chance: that evening the victims had guests. They stayed overnight and were able to resist the attackers, who, according to eyewitnesses, were about twenty people. One of them even managed to be detained - it turned out to be a very young man. Soon the police detained the other participants in the attack.

According to some reports, we can talk about the planned and professional organization of the attack. The thugs even blocked the street on which the house was located, with the signs "Detour", thus ensuring non-interference from outsiders.

The attack is being investigated by the city prosecutor's office and the investigation team of the fourth police department of the Belgorod Internal Affairs Directorate.
