Protest march of foreign students in St. Petersburg

On September 15, 2005 in St. Petersburg, after meeting with the head of the criminal police of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, V. Piotrovsky, African and Asian students lined up in columns and went through the city center to the administration building of St. Petersburg in Smolny.

In their hands they carried a poster: "An Arab student was killed the day before yesterday, a Vietnamese student yesterday, an African today. Who will be killed tomorrow?" and a photograph of a murdered African . On the way to Smolny, the students stopped at hotels on Nevsky Prospekt. In total, about 100 people took part in the procession.

The column was escorted by police officers, but there were no attempts on their part to disperse the demonstration. A cordon had already been set up at Smolny, in front of which the students held a short rally.

Andrey Maksimov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher School of the Administration of St. Petersburg, came out to the audience. He assured the students that the killers would be punished, after which he literally repeated the speech of the head of the criminal police , also mentioning "domestic murder".

On September 14, 2005, a spontaneous rally of foreign students was already held, which was organized by classmates of the murdered Congolese.
