A conference on the problems of interaction between ethnocultural organizations and law enforcement agencies was held in Anapa

On September 8-9, 2005, the international conference “Russian and international experience of interaction between national communities, law enforcement agencies and authorities” was held in Anapa. The conference was organized by the Center for Interethnic Cooperation, co-organized by “European Dialogue” (London) and “Roma Ural” (Ekaterinburg). Also, organizational and financial support for the event was provided by various international organizations, Russian ministries and departments, the administration of the Krasnodar region, etc.

The conference was attended by employees of federal ministries, heads of ethnocultural organizations, government and police officers from twenty regions of Russia, as well as representatives of the Council of Europe, OSCE, Delegation of the European Union to Russia, non-governmental organizations of Great Britain, the USA, Hungary, the embassies of Germany and Switzerland - in total about 135 people.

The conference participants developed recommendations for the interaction of representatives of “national” communities, state authorities, local government, law enforcement agencies, eliminating discrimination on ethnic grounds (for the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Regional Development and Internal Affairs, the Federal Migration Service) and came up with a number of initiatives, in including the proposal to create a federal agency for interethnic relations (compare withthe initiative of V. Zorin ).
