On the eve of the new academic year, law enforcement agencies in Volgograd are trying to protect visiting foreign students from attacks by skinheads.
The police are trying to identify and put on a preventive record young people who consider themselves to be extremist youth organizations.
As part of Operation Neformal, three raids were carried out in the region, during which "law enforcement officers carried out a whole range of measures to counter the ideas of fascism, political and religious extremism" .
Law enforcement agencies have also redirected the routes of the patrol service in order to control the places of residence and education of foreigners.
Higher educational institutions of the city are also preparing for the beginning of the academic year: private security companies are involved in the protection. And Volgograd Technical University agreed with the Central Department of Internal Affairs of the city on equipping the educational building and university dormitory No. 1 with an alarm button.
