On August 30, 2005, Maksim Vorontsov, an activist of the Irkutsk branch of the NBP, tried to hold an exhibition of a political poster in the Kirov Square (having notified the city administration in advance, since, according to the Federal Law "On meetings, rallies, picketing", holding a picket is of a notification nature). A few minutes later, Vorontsov and nine of his associates were pushed into a car without any explanation and taken to the Kirovsky District Department of Internal Affairs, where they were kept for about 4 hours. A protocol was drawn up on an administrative violation, and the case was sent for consideration to the Justice of the Peace of the Pravoberezhny District of Irkutsk.
On September 19, 2005, the trial took place. Magistrate Tatyana Smertina agreed with the arguments of the defense about the absence of an event of an administrative offense and decided to terminate the proceedings.
In addition, the judge ruled against the employees of the Kirovsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Irkutsk.
