On September 26, 2005, a rally in support of the Chernovik newspaper took place in Makhachkala , which was prevented by police officers.

About 40 law enforcement officers headed by the deputy of the Makhachkala police department Sabir Yusupov, referring to the decision of the Makhachkala administration, tried to convince the organizers to move the rally from the central square to the seaside park of Makhachkala.
