LDPR joined the fight against “sects”

On September 28, a round table was held on the topic "Sects in Moscow and Russia: Theory and Practice of Struggle", organized by the LDPR faction in the State Duma. During the meeting, the head of the LDPR youth center Igor Pavlov and the assistant to the State Duma deputy N.V. Kuryanovich Alexey Baranovsky announced that they intend to introduce a provision on the need to combat "sects" in the "Strategy for the Development of Youth Policy" being currently being formed and subject to government approval.

The participants of the round table lamented the current legislation allowing "sects" to "overwhelm our cities". "Unfortunately, the legislator did not take into account that there are good religions and bad sects. And while we are chasing al-Qaeda, some sect is quietly sitting in Russia and preparing a coup," I. Pavlov said.

At present, according to A. Baranovsky, the LDPR is fighting three religious organizations: the Church of the Kingdom of God (Pentecostals) in the Moscow district of Babushkino, the community of Moon's Unification Church in Smolensk, and the Jehovah's Witnesses in the Irkutsk region.
