Ivan Demidov can lead the youth "Unity"

According to the publication "Gazeta" (issue of October 3, 2005), the youth "Unity" will be activated in the near future. As one of the candidates for the role of the new leader of the organization, the head of the Orthodox TV channel "Spas" (former host of the program "Russian View" ) Ivan Demidov is being considered.

I. Demidov does not deny the possibility that in the near future he will head the youth "Unity". On September 1, 2005, he took up the position of adviser on youth affairs of the political department of the Central Election Commission of United Russia.

Youth Unity is one of three (along with Nashi and the Eurasian Youth Union ) pro-presidential organizations that consider any opposition to the Kremlin to be their enemies.

For several years, Unity did not show itself in politics, but in September 2005 the organization carried out a whole series of aggressive street actions condemning Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Young United Russia members are unlikely to compete with the Nashi movement and the Eurasian Youth Union, the Gazeta correspondent adds. "No one will drive out pioneers with pipes to rallies anymore, we will try to captivate passionate youth from the street ," added the source of the publication.
