At the beginning of October 2005 in Volgograd in the city center on the street. A black student from the Prague Medical Academy fired an air pistol at 22-year-old Dmitry Mitrokhin. According to preliminary data, the reason for the aggression was a racially motivated insult uttered by the victim against the African.
According to one version, a group of dark-skinned students passed by three Volgograd residents (among whom was D. Mitrokhin), who were standing on the street. Hearing the "offensive epithet" followed , one of the Africans returned and began to find out if he had misheard. Having received confirmation, the African pulled out a pistol and shot D. Mitrokhin twice in the face. One rubber bullet hit the victim in the forehead, the other in the eye. The victim is in the hospital (today it is known that, fortunately, he did not lose his sight).
A student of the Medical University was detained, a criminal case was initiated against him under the article "hooliganism".
The victim himself denies that he insulted the African, claiming that he himself unexpectedly approached them and began to find out " "who called him a black man .
Earlier, we noted cases of armed self-defense against racially motivated violence, provoked primarily by the inaction of law enforcement agencies. The fact that in this case the reason for such a "defense" was just an insult (perhaps even an imaginary one) demonstrates the development of negative trends and confirms the most pessimistic forecasts of experts .
