Nationalist rally in Rostov the Great

On October 16, 2005, a rally was held in the center of Rostov the Great (Yaroslavl region) against illegal construction near the territory of the Rostov Kremlin. The rally was attended by about forty people, some of whom were activists of the Russian national-patriotic movement (RNPD) "Resurrection". were distributed among them At the same time, propaganda materials of the RNPD, leaflets "Russian, help the Russian" .

A criminal case has already been initiated on the fact of the destruction of historical and cultural monuments (Article 243 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), but the protesters were not satisfied with this. One of its organizers, the chairman of the regional branch of the All-Russian Society for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments (VOOPIiK), Anatoly Zaitsev (a well-known Orthodox activist in the region, a fighter against Protestants, Jehovah's Witnesses and Masons), believes that the entrepreneur "incites ethnic hatred" on the grounds that the construction allegedly destroyed an ancient Russian cemetery, and at the same time, the husband of the entrepreneur Nadezhda Tyurina, who is leading the construction, is an ethnic Chechen (“ It turns out that Chechens are pulling out Russian bones. What would happen if Russians suddenly began to pull out Chechen bones?” ). He also claims that their son tried to attack A. Zaitsev, precisely because of national hatred, and not because he "tried to stop the bulldozer bucket" .

The nationalists intend to continue picketing the construction, involving the local branch of the RNU and the Cossacks in their events (activists of the regional branch of the NPF "Pamyat" also participated in previous events organized by A. Zaitsev).

A few days before the event, future participants in the rally openly declared that they intended to march through the streets of Rostov, chanting right-wing radical slogans, and then set fire to one of the stalls belonging to immigrants from the Caucasus. However, it was not possible to implement the plan - some of the right-wing radicals were detained by the police for ... stealing 8 bottles of cognac in one of the city stores.

Comm. We do not in any way condone illegal construction on the territory of an architectural and historical monument (unless, of course, this is true). In our opinion, it cannot be anything other than the result of corrupt or incompetent actions of state officials who issued the building permit. However, we draw the attention of readers to the fact that once again we see how the problem of combating bureaucratic arbitrariness is at the mercy of national-radical organizations that skillfully use it to promote their own ideas, without fear of openly declaring their readiness for pogroms.

Help . RNPD "Resurrection" is a right-wing radical youth organization. The total number is about forty people. It is not entirely clear whether these people are skinheads, or simply sympathize with them, at least members of the movement are actively seeking to create a romantic image of "a patriot in heavy boots walking the streets of an old Russian city" . The program documents of the organization contain statements about the need to protect the interests of the "Russian nation", the undesirability of interethnic marriages, and the prohibition of other ethnic migration. The RNPD opposes "various non-indigenous religions (faiths), sectarian and pseudo-religious teachings".
