On October 12, 2005, a procession and a rally in defense of free education were held in Omsk as part of an all-Russian protest action. During the procession, people in civilian clothes detained several students who had taken part in the action.
The detainees were escorted to the district police department, where they were required to sign papers stating that the students were forced to go to the action by university professors. None of the students put their signature.
A complaint was filed with the prosecutor's office for the unlawful detention of participants in a sanctioned event.
