Defense stocks
The most numerous and organized protest action in September was the action of workers of the defense complex. The rallies and pickets were part of a two-week all-Russian protest organized from 8 to 22 September by the association of Russian defense industry trade unions. In general, several tens of thousands of people throughout Russia took part in the actions. The main theme of the protest is disagreement with the reforms carried out by the government in the defense industry.
The protesters put forward specific economic demands: the adoption of a decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on writing off irrecoverable debts of defense workers to the federal budget and extra-budgetary funds, wage increases: in the defense industry, stabilization of the socio-economic situation at defense enterprises.
Pickets were held in Novosibirsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Perm, Izhevsk, Kirov, Rostov-on-Don, Tula, Perm, Barnaul and others.
On September 22, the all-Russian action of the defense workers reached its climax - a rally was held near the Government House, at which the protesters presented their demands to the government. At the same time, instead of the originally announced 3,000 thousand participants, at the insistence of the authorities, only a thousand had to be content.
Route overlaps
Road closures are still one of those actions that the authorities can use OMON to fight against. On September 25, about 300 representatives of small businesses blocked the Moscow-Rostov-on-Don highway near Bobrov in protest against the decision of the authorities to close the Central Market of the district center for reconstruction.
Law enforcement agencies tried to prevent the blocking of the federal highway - the protesters were not allowed to get to the highway, so they walked the distance of 15 kilometers from Bobrov to the highway. At 15:00, about 300 people reached the highway, but the riot police did not allow the highway to be blocked. The organizers of the action went along the highway towards Voronezh and at about 17:00 they managed to block the road for 30 minutes.
Law enforcement officers removed the demonstrators from the road by force. Representatives of the authorities did not meet with the protesters.
Another road closure occurred on September 16 in the Novosibirsk region near the village of Chik, Kochenevsky district, where more than 1,000 people blocked the Baikal federal highway for an hour in protest against rising prices for fuels and lubricants. Representatives of the prosecutor's office of the Siberian Federal District and police officers were present during the action. The action went off without a hitch.
Also, the highway was blocked in the Shali district of Chechnya . On September 17, about 100 people blocked the Kavkaz highway, demanding the location of several people who were taken away by unknown armed men.
On Friday and Thursday, this group blocked traffic for several hours. Police officers did not intervene in what was happening, but took measures to influence the audience and resume movement.
During the rally, a film crew from the Vesti-Chechnya program drove up to the scene . After talking with the protesters, the journalists, accompanied by a local police inspector, went to the Shali District Department of Internal Affairs to find out the fate of the four detained residents of the village of Novye Atagi. As a result, the film crew managed to meet with one of the detained men. However, after the story was filmed, the police confiscated the cassette from the journalists and strongly advised them to return home.
Dispersal of peaceful demonstrations
On September 2, by order of the administration of Nizhny Novgorod and the prosecutor's office of the Nizhny Novgorod region of Nizhny Novgorod, riot police dispersed an unauthorized picket of human rights activists held near the building of the tax inspectorate of the Nizhny Novgorod region of Nizhny Novgorod. The detainees were released only after the intervention of the chairman of the regional organization of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Alexander Kruglikov, the deputy of the City Duma Alexander Kaplina and representatives of the press.
According to Kruglikov, the head of the police department, Yury Derevyankin, could not clearly explain to him the reasons for his detention. Protests against prison conditions
In the Dimitrovgrad colony YuI 78/3 (Ulyanovsk region) on September 12, 20 prisoners refused to eat in protest against the conditions of detention. The very next day, Tuesday, the number of protesters reached 180. First of all, the authorities began to refute reports of suicide attempts among prisoners. "There were no suicides in the colony. Only four people sought medical help. They had cut wounds in the forearm," Vasily Zima, senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Ulyanovsk region, commented on the situation. He reported that the rebellious prisoners put forward a number of demands. According to them, this is a separate meal with "lowered", the ability to transfer tea and cigarettes to a punishment cell (SHIZO), the abolition of the obligation to clean the bucket.
On September 9, about 700 inmates of pre-trial detention center 77/1 "Matrosskaya Tishina" refused to eat on Friday. The reason for this was the beating of one of the prisoners by a prison officer."
Two hours later, after prosecutors went around all the cells and promised the prisoners that the perpetrators would be found and punished, the hunger strike ended.
In Moscow, near the building of the pre-trial detention center "Kapotnya", several dozen relatives of prisoners protested today against poor conditions of detention - the cells in the detention center are overcrowded, prisoners are not given medicines, the store is not working. The action was supported by representatives of human rights organizations.
