Right-footed march in St. Petersburg

On November 4, 2005, a sanctioned rally was held in St. Petersburg, organized by the public movement "People's Militia" and the National Conservative Party of Russia (NKPR). The action was attended by members of the Russian National Unity (RNU) and the Movement Against Illegal Immigration (DPNI). In total, about 300 people took part in the march.

The text of the appeal, distributed by the organizers, said: "Our people have been robbed, our culture has been trampled on, our holy faith has been humiliated by insolent sectarians, the Russian people have ceased to be the master of their land. How long will we endure the hated yoke of Russophobes and oligarchs!"

The action opened with a rally on Ostrovsky Square in front of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. The rally was opened by a representative of the Alexander Nevsky Youth Union. A resolution addressed to the President of Russia V. Putin was adopted. Then the participants of the action with the icon of the Kazan Mother of God marched to the Kazan Cathedral. The participants of the action carried St. Andrew's banners and a banner: "Russia will be saved only by the people's militia!" To the music of a military brass band, the column approached the Kazan Cathedral. The event ended with a festive evening dedicated to the Day of Russian National Unity, held in the building of the University of Technology and Design.

The protesters were accompanied by a police squad.

In contrast to Moscow , in St. Petersburg, skinheads who were about to join the rally were beaten up by anti-fascists.
