A meeting of heads of law enforcement agencies was held in Voronezh

On November 8, 2005, a coordinating meeting of the heads of law enforcement agencies of the region was held in Voronezh, dedicated to the issues of the state of work to prevent phenomena of an extremist nature.

Deputy Prosecutor of the Voronezh Region Vasily Khromykh, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Voronezh Region Vyacheslav Bezborodov, Deputy Head of the Federal Security Service of the Voronezh Region Gennady Boev, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Voronezh Region Boris Prasolov, Chairman of the Voronezh Regional Duma Vladimir Klyuchnikov, Head of the Department of the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District Anatoly Semushkin.

As noted at the meeting, in 2005 the number of crimes committed against foreigners increased sharply compared to 2004. In this regard, almost all speakers noted the need for the speedy development and adoption of a regional comprehensive program to counter extremism. Talk about the need for this program has been going on for a long time, but it has not yet been developed. According to the security forces, only after the adoption of the program will it be possible to talk about any specific shift in the work to prevent manifestations of extremism and crimes related to them.
