On November 19, the Samara branch of the Saratov Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia hosted an interdepartmental scientific and practical seminar devoted to the problem of interaction between the internal affairs bodies and representatives of ethnic minorities.
A similar event was already organized in Samara in March 2005.
The seminar was attended by representatives of state authorities of the Samara region, international organizations, the Central Internal Affairs Directorate, as well as heads of national cultural organizations.
Policemen were trained in conflict-free interaction with representatives of ethnic diasporas, familiarized with the customs and traditions of different cultures. The problem of "ethnic" stereotypes was raised as one of the reasons for discrimination based on "nationality".
