On November 24, 2005, the Velikolukskaya city prosecutor's office closed a criminal case initiated on the fact of the publication in the Velikolukskaya Pravda newspaper of A. Maksimov's article "Jewish Happiness, Russian Tears" (not to be confused with the "Letter of Five Hundred" of the same name).
The case was dismissed on the basis of clause 2, part 1, article 24 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation - due to the absence of corpus delicti in the actions of A. Maksimov and A. Kanavshchikov (the editor-in-chief of the newspaper).
