The Congress of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Chuvashia adopted an appeal to the President of the Russian Federation and the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation with a request to adopt amendments to the law “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations.” Congress delegates believe that the law in its current form is too liberal and allows fictitious or small organizations to create their structures in the regions.
The appeal was caused by the recent appearance on the territory of the republic of the second Muslim Spiritual Directorate, which became part of the DUMECHR. The head of the old Muslim Spiritual Directorate, Albir Krganov, said that there is no split among the Muslims of Chuvashia, and the Council of Muftis did not decide to create a second spiritual administration in the region.
