Tatarstan - results of the year

As part of a project to combat discrimination and national extremism in Russia, implemented by the Foundation for Civil Society, the Human Rights Center of Kazan applied to the prosecutor's office of the Republic of Tatarstan with a request for statistics on criminal cases related to inciting ethnic hatred.

According to the data provided by the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tajikistan, in 2005 law enforcement agencies of the republic initiated 4 criminal cases for crimes under Art. 282, 282-1, 282-2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Of these, one case went to trial.

In addition, one case was initiated for a crime motivated by national, racial, religious hatred or enmity.

In addition, in 2005 the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tajikistan issued 11 warnings about the inadmissibility of violating the law on combating extremist activity.

Unfortunately, this statistic has not been deciphered.

The reasons for the announcement of warnings and data regarding whom exactly such measures were taken were not provided in response to the request.

Comm. According to the SOVA Center, in 2005 the case of a pogrom at a cemetery in Naberezhnye Chelny was brought to court, where the defendants were charged with Art. 244 part 2 p. "b" ("desecration of the bodies of the dead and their burial places, committed motivated by national hatred"), art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity”), 282-1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“organization of an extremist community”), Art. 150 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("involving a minor in the commission of a crime").
