A picketer was detained in Gorno-Altaisk

On January 16, 2006, LDPR member Vitaly Shilevoy held an individual picket of the Gorno-Altaisk mayor's office to protest against the increase in housing and communal services tariffs. The picketer was detained by the police.

Despite the fact that federal law allows single pickets to be held without prior notice, 10-15 minutes after the start of the rally, police officers and city administration spokesman Boris Chunizhekov left the administration building and tried to prevent the picketer from holding the event.

After the picketing, Shilevoi was detained without explanation by police officers, taken to the Gorno-Altaisk GOVD and released an hour and a half later.

V. Shileva sent a complaint to the prosecutor's office of Gorno-Altaysk about illegal detention.
