On January 24, 2005, the trial of the editor of the national-patriotic newspaper "Alex-Inform" Oleg Kitter, accused under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("incitement of national hatred").
The criminal case against Kitter was initiated by the prosecutor's office of Samara on April 30, 2003. The basis was anti-Semitic and anti-Caucasian publications for his authorship in the newspaper "Alex-Inform" for the period from March 1999 to November 2002. The first hearing took place on May 7, 2004 .
Since the National News Agency reports that Kitter faces 4 years in prison, there is reason to believe that Part 1 of Art. 282, on which a criminal case was initially initiated, was later reclassified as part 2 of the same article.
This is not the first trial against O. Kitter initiated under this article. In 2003, Kitter was acquitted by the court.
We also remind you that in October 2004 the prosecutor's office of the Samara region carried out an audit against Kitter at the request of members of the Samara regional branch of the Yabloko party with a demand to initiate a criminal case against the author of nationalist publications. The test results are unknown.
