On February 3, 2006, a hearing was held in Sergiev Posad on the case of the attack on Imam Arslan Sadriev.
On the eve of the court hearing, leaflets were put up in the city in support of the two accused of the attack. In connection with the distribution of leaflets, the court was forced to strengthen the security of the building.
According to eyewitnesses, some girls in hijabs had problems getting into the meeting room. In the courtroom were men of athletic appearance, members of the Sergiev Posad branch of the DPNI, whose presence escalated the situation. Members of DPNI "suppressed" the plaintiffs, and, according to anecdotal evidence of eyewitnesses, made caustic remarks about women in hijabs.
The hearing was postponed due to the absence of the lawyer of one of the defendants and was rescheduled for February 26. According to A. Sadriev's wife, the injured party intends to seek the application of Article 282 ("inciting national and religious hatred").
