Detentions at a rally in Krasnodar

On February 23, 2006, a demonstration took place in Krasnodar, during which 29 activists of the National Bolshevik Party were detained.

In total, about 700 people took part in the action - members of left-wing patriotic organizations. The impending arrest became known during the rally. To try to avoid arrest, the young participants of the demonstration were surrounded by older ones. However, the police pushed the old men aside and began to drag the National Bolsheviks into the cars. The detainees were taken to the police station. According to eyewitnesses, there are injured people among the detainees.

According to the head of the press service of the Krasnodar Internal Affairs Directorate, Ilya Shakalov, 30 people were detained. “The National Bolshevik Party took part in the rally without authorization ,” said I. Shakalov. “ They did not respond to the request of the police to lay down flags and banners, a conflict arose, as a result of which the Limonovites were detained and taken to the Department of Internal Affairs of the Western District. ”

As of February 24, 2006, 7 detained National Bolsheviks were convicted under Art. 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation ("petty hooliganism"). Two people were taken to a juvenile detention centre.

Members of the Union of Communist Youth and the Left Front, who separated from the rest of the column, were followed. Then the activists were detained and their data was recorded. Even during the rally, according to the ForumMsk.Ru website, "explanatory" work was constantly carried out with the SCM team, accompanied by threats: "You will finish the game! Where is your headquarters, who is in charge of you?"

On March 1, 2006, it became known that, according to unconfirmed reports, criminal cases had been initiated against several detained activists.

According to the official website of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation dated March 3, 2006, a press conference was held in Krasnodar dedicated to the events of February 23, 2006. Numerous victims spoke at the press conference and spoke about insults and beatings by the police. Lawyer Vyacheslav Yushkin said that the police, not even counting the beatings, abused their official position: those who put things in order did not name positions, and the National Bolsheviks, who got into the police only supposedly to establish their identities, were kept not for 3 hours, but until 22 pm and did not issue a court order.

A working group has been set up to investigate the incident.
