Riot police dispersed "Anarcho-Maslenitsa"

On March 5, 2005, a theatrical action "Anarcho-Maslenitsa" took place in Moscow on Pushkin Square, the participants of which tried to combine the celebration of Maslenitsa with a protest against the upcoming G8 summit. 10 people were detained by riot police.

As part of the holiday, activists of the Food Not Bombs initiative handed out pancakes and saw off Maslenitsa. So far, the police have not intervened. When the picketers tried to carry out a ritual burning of the "stuffed winter", which was the painted flags of the G8 countries and stuffed Putin, Bush and Blair, the activists were detained and taken to the police station. The police explain the detention by the unsanctioned nature of the action.
