In Voronezh, a court hearing has begun on a lawsuit to protect the honor, dignity and business reputation of the Imam of the Voronezh region and the chairman of the Azerbaijani Khazar community, Eldar Sadigov, against the Kommersant publishing house. The reason was an article published by Kommersant-Chernozemye in August 2005 about the arrest of Azerbaijani citizens suspected of drug dealing. The author of the article said that E. Sadigov left the cafe where the suspects were detained a few minutes before the appearance of the policemen. With reference to a representative of another Voronezh association of Azerbaijanis, the newspaper also reported that the imam was collecting money for religious needs, without reporting on their spending.
E. Sadigov asks to refute the information, to apologize and pay 1 million rubles each in his favor and in favor of the Khazar association.
