The Basmanny court rejected the complaint of human rights activists against the Basmanny prosecutor's office regarding the "letter 500"

On March 24, 2006, the Basmanny Court of Moscow rejected the complaint of the representative of the movement "For Human Rights" Evgeny Ikhlov about the illegality of the actions of the Basmanny Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office of the capital, which repeatedly refused to initiate criminal proceedings on the fact of conducting two anti-Semitic campaigns ( "letter 500" and "letter 5000" ).

At the same time, the Basmanny Court recognized as legal the refusal to initiate a criminal case based on counter-appeals to the Prosecutor General’s Office by Rabbi Zinovy ​​Kogan (who published the Russian translation of the book “Kitzur Shulchan Aruch”) and Mikhail Nazarov (the author of the “letter 500” and the appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office).

The representative of the Basmanny prosecutor's office Artsebasheva, without presenting the materials of the verification proceedings to the court, only announced that “the decisions were made legally and justifiably.”
