Activist beaten in Kaliningrad region

On March 23, 2006, in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad region, public activist Mikhail Kasimov was beaten, in particular, he was fighting against deforestation and illegal construction.

M. Kasymov was hospitalized in serious condition.

Kaliningrad environmentalists have started collecting signatures for a letter to the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Georgy Boos, demanding that the investigation into the beating of a human rights activist be taken under special control.
