Lev Ponomarev and Evgeny Ikhlov were detained at a rally near the Foreign Ministry

On April 3, 2006, a rally was held in Moscow near the building of the Russian Foreign Ministry demanding the release of Russian citizens detained during opposition protests in Belarus.

The executive director of the All-Russian Public Movement "For Human Rights" Lev Ponomarev and the head of the information and analytical service of the movement "For Human Rights" Yevgeny Ikhlov, who were standing in front of the ministry building with a poster accusing the Foreign Ministry of inaction, were detained and taken to the police department. During the arrest, the police officers verbally referred to the fact that they were doing it at the request of the prosecutor's office.
