In St. Petersburg, the parents of a Tajik girl appealed the court verdict

On April 4, 2006, the parents of the murdered Tajik girl appealed the verdict of the St. Petersburg court, said the lawyer of the injured party, N. Ponomareva.

"...we sent a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court against the decision of the St. Petersburg City Court, in which we ask to cancel the verdict and send the case for a new trial... The grounds for canceling the verdict in the complaint indicate violations of the Criminal Procedure Code committed during the hearing of the case in court, which could influence the jury to form an erroneous opinion when rendering a verdict,” the lawyer noted.

N. Ponomareva emphasized that in the case there was enough evidence of the defendant Roman Kazakov’s guilt in murder, however, according to the jury’s verdict, he was found not guilty of murder.
