On April 4, 2006, in Moscow, the defense of Alexander Koptsev, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison for attacking parishioners of a Moscow synagogue, appealed against the verdict .
"We filed a cassation appeal, as we consider the sentence to be excessively harsh. We agree with the charges and ask the court to mitigate the punishment for our client ," A. Koptsev's lawyer Vladimir Kirsanov.
