A student from China was beaten in St. Petersburg
On April 2, 2006, a 25-year-old Chinese citizen, a student at the Institute of International Educational Programs, was beaten up on Grazhdansky Prospekt in St. Petersburg (near one of the dormitories of the Polytechnic University).
The victim was taken to the Alexander Hospital with head injuries and bruises on her face. According to a Chinese citizen, she was beaten by unknown as she was returning to the hostel. The robbery of the student is not reported.
Law enforcement agencies of the Kalininsky district opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("beatings inflicted out of hooligan motives").
Initially, it was reported that a young man was injured, and the attacker was alone, but later the information was clarified.
On April 6, 2006, it became known that the attack occurred on a domestic basis, and a Chinese citizen was detained on suspicion of an attempt on her life.
