The Political Council of the Democratic Party of Russia (DPR) issued a statement in which it proposes to exclude the LDPR from the list of parties that signed the Anti-Fascist Pact , and also demands that the leader of the Liberal Democrats, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, make a public apology for incorrect statements addressed to Jews and Russians on the air of the Vremena program. .
The statement, in particular, says: “We, together with the entire country, witnessed the outrageous behavior of the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Zhirinovsky on the live television program “Times,” which discussed the growth of nationalist sentiments in society. During the program, Zhirinovsky repeatedly allowed himself to make openly anti-Semitic and chauvinistic statements... We are convinced that actions aimed at inciting national hatred should receive an appropriate assessment from society. What makes these actions especially serious is the fact that they were carried out by a representative of government power, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma. " .
The authors of the statement intend to contact the prosecutor's office "to bring the leader of the LDPR to justice in accordance with the Law of the Russian Federation."
Member of the Presidium of the General Council of the United Russia Party Andrei Isaev took a softer position towards the leader of the LDPR. Regarding another statement by V. Zhirinovsky regarding “immigrants from the south,” he noted: “Vladimir Volfovich’s statement was not made in the spirit of the Anti-Fascist Pact and largely devalues the LDPR’s signature on this document. It seems to me that it is advisable for the LDPR leader to reconsider his position on this issue.” .
Chairman of the Central Council of the Russian Party of Pensioners (RPP) I. Zotov stated that he considers “the position of the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation V.V. Zhirinovsky unacceptable. From a political point of view, his activities are aimed at the collapse of the Russian state. This is a conscious departure from solving existing problems, including in the field of interethnic relations."
In conclusion, the RPP stated that “the actions of V.V. Zhirinovsky, as a citizen and statesman, are unacceptable and should become the object of close attention of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia.”
