The Magadan Church of Evangelical Christians "Rock of Hope" demands that journalists from local publications and activists of the regional branch of the Liberal Democratic Party be brought to justice for publishing a series of articles and distributing leaflets that insult members of this church.
According to the press service of the Slavic Legal Center , "back on February 7, 2006, the Magadan prosecutor's office received a statement from the pastor of the Church of Evangelical Christians "Rock of Hope" Nikolai Voskoboinikov, in which he accused the newspaper "Evening Magadan" of slander and inciting religious hatred, Magadan the regional branch of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, leaflet distributor Vladimir Kamensky, and the author of a newspaper article, Valentin Sidorov. The leaflets, which have been distributed by LDPR activists since December 2005, noted that "the anti-Christian activities of this religious totalitarian church are well known to Magadan residents." In addition, the leaflets indicate " pernicious influence" of the community "Rock of Hope" and its "impact on the psyche of people". called "God-given swindlers" and accused of "fraudulently taking over" an unfinished youth center that the church had purchased to house a Christian church. Articles that damaged the business reputation of the "Rock of Hope" church also appeared in the newspapers "Northern allowance" ("Here's to you, grandmother, and "Rock of Hope", dated 07.12.05), "Kolymskaya highway" ("At the source of the Kolyma highway the overseas church will ascend", dated 12/14/05. On February 16, 2006, the prosecutor's office of the city of Magadan refused to recognize the corpus delicti in the actions of journalists and activists of the Liberal Democratic Party."
However, the believers filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office of the Magadan region and in early April received a notification that the case had been returned to the city prosecutor's office for reconsideration.
