The fight against glamor as anti-fascism?

On March 31, 2006, at a press conference dedicated to the creation of the "Association of Civil Resistance to Fascism" , Senator Lyudmila Narusova was outraged that a photograph of the popular singer Irina Allegrova in Nazi uniform was published on the pages of the Caravan of History magazine.

L. Narusova called it "an outrageous trick" , adding that "maybe it was started for the sake of banter, for the sake of some kind of game, but in fact everything looked like an outrageous blasphemy, a desecration of the memory of tens of millions of people who died all over the world at the hands of Nazi executioners. And who after this Allegrova?"

The indignation of the senator was shared by a member of the Public Chamber Dmitry Lipskerov: "I was shocked not so much by Allegrova as by the photographer Ekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya, who took off all this disgrace . "

Why exactly this photograph, taken as part of E. Rozhdestvenskaya's project "Reincarnation. Military of the 20th century" is not entirely clear. The photo itself, in our opinion, stylistically refers not so much to Nazi aesthetics, but to the film "The Night Porter" (the full version of the photo is available here ) - a recognized masterpiece of world cinema.

It is noteworthy that it is the Nazi symbols (the swastika on the red armband) that are hidden in the photograph, i.e. the authors cannot be blamed for its (symbolism) public display.
