April 9, 2006 in Cheboksary, on the embankment of the bay, a theatrical action "Cheboksary - the city of international friendship" was held. About 50 young people with painted faces (creativity of students of the Cheboksary Art College) with posters "We are for peace" and flags of various states marched from Red Square to the monument. In total, about 10 citizens of Iran, Palestine, countries of Southeast Asia and the CIS took part in the procession, all of them study and work in Cheboksary. The two-hour procession ended on the platform in front of the Chuvash Drama Theatre. The planned rally did not take place.
The action took place with the support of the department for public relations, media and youth policy of the administration of Cheboksary, in response to the murder of a black student in St. Petersburg in particular, and against racial and national hatred in general.
